Hike and make the steep climb to Observation Point in Zion National Park and be rewarded with spectacular views of the park from high above. The hike is fairly challenging, following a maintained path that climbs steep terrain surrounded with major drop offs at various points. Enjoy the sight of Zion Canyon as you climb through the iconic Navajo sandstone that the region is famous for. Continue through Echo Canyon, a deep gorge where you can appreciate more breathtaking views of the sandstone landscape. Once at the top, look down on the stone walls of the canyon, and notice the other peaks surrounding you. A visit to Observation Point represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Zion National Park itinerary site to plot your vacation.

  • I would say that this is one of the bucket list hikes in the park. Spectacular views (very much like a Grand Canyon type of view) . Angels Landing is in the foreground when you're at the point...

  • The first 2 miles are just a mellow path through the woods, but there are some secret viewpoints and then of course, Observation Point, which is spectacular and worth the effort. Parking can be tricky. Search for "HikingGuy Observation Point Zion" for a video and full guide on the hike.
  • The hike up the East Mesa Trailhead was pretty unremarkable, but boy oh boy when you first lay eyes on Zion at Observation Point it truly takes your breath away! Well worth the hike and our first adventure as we came into Zion from the east. (6-10-21)
