Santa's Workshop in North Pole, a hamlet in Wilmington, New York, is an amusement park that has been in operation since 1949. It was one of the first theme parks in the United States. It is open from June to December.Make Santa's Workshop a part of your Wilmington vacation plans using our Wilmington trip planning tool.
The idea for the village originated in a story that Lake Placid businessman Julian Reiss told his daughter about a baby bear who visits Santa Claus at the North Pole. The design of the park was done by artist Arto Monaco, of Upper Jay, and built by Harold Fortune, of Lake Placid, who also owned the site, and helped promote the park. The park drew immediate media interest, with more than 14,000 visitors on one day in September 1951.
The COVID-19 pandemic caused the 2020 season to go on hiatus.

Nice place to visit, however the price has increased to $40 per guest. Not as much is offered for the admission, stores did not have as much merchandise as previous years. On the upside, this is...

Ok, just to be clear. This place needs an upgrade. It's been in business for a long time and the place is in need of repair. No real shopping to be done here.

We have gone a few years in a row now and this is the most magical place in the world! My family is incredibly happy here. Everything from the talking tree to feeding Blitzen a leaf is absolutely incredible. He is so gentle that he will eat it from the elves mouths!! The shows are cute and the ride "elves" are sooo polite. The rides are original to the park which is awesome and targets smaller kids. This makes it feel like a time capsule and should never be changed.....its where the magic is. Everything feels old...much like Santa. If youre going for rides though youll be disappointed. This is for SANTA!!! THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS! Santa takes his time and will welcome you back. My kids spent approximately 10 minutes with him today and that was the just the first time. They then went back to say goodbye. My suggestion is to get a santa hat so he knows their names before! The elves will make you one in a few minutes at a reasonable price. It makes it that much more magical for them. They remember these moments forever. Santas village makes lifetime memories. We were probably 4 of 60 people total there today. Sad when you think about how incredible the experience makes us feel inside. I wish we could return every day! My kids love it even if the roller coaster is a little bumpy. 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️

So I first went to Santa's workshop over 30 years ago as a kid. I loved the visit then, my son loved it this time. We didn't get a chance to visit the theme park but we did stop by and purchase some trinkets at the gift shop. If you have young kids, Santa's Workshop is a must visit if your in the area. It's right near the Veterans Memorial Highway experience so you can knock off two birds with one stone. We finished the day off with a late lunch at the A&W which is right nearby as well.
