Foss Waterway Seaport celebrates Tacoma's rich maritime heritage-past, present and future. Located on the waterfront, in a century-old wheat

warehouse known as the Balfour Dock building, Foss Waterway Seaport is where history actually took place! It is one of two remaining wooden

warehouses originally built to accommodate cargo arriving by rail and departing by square-rigged ships that frequented the port during the early

years of Tacoma's history. Foss Waterway Seaport is Puget Sound's maritime heritage, education and event center, where families, students and entire communities come to discover, explore, work and play.

  • The Foss Waterway Seaport was on the list of museums to visit in Tacoma and was a treat to the history of boats and seafaring in the area! Left me feeling like I needed something more though...

  • This museum is housed in a century-old wheat transfer facility. It does an excellant job of celebrating the art, culture, crafts and skills of Puget Sound’s maritime community

  • So good maritime museum. Different exhibits of various themes. We got a lot of knowledge from the museum. My daughter had a lot of fun on the fishing boat model. And we also liked to walk outside the building, beautiful and quiet. The park lot is not big but free.
  • A wonderful affordable museum with tons of history and interesting artifacts. If you live in or are visiting Tacoma this is a must see. The building itself is worth seeing. Also very friendly kind staff.
