Designed by the famous Olmstead Brothers, Manito Park features beautifully manicured lawns, many gardens, and a greenhouse conservatory, all set on 36 hectares (90 acres). The name means Spirit of Nature in the Algonquian language, and that's what you'll find here, with flowers, topiaries, and tall trees lining well-kept paths designed for walking and cycling. The park offers facilities for baseball, sledding, tennis, bird watching, and even Frisbee golf. Kids will be entertained in the two playgrounds and can enjoy feeding the ducks and geese in the duck pond. Until 1932, the park was a zoo, but it closed due to lack of funding during the Depression. You can still see remnants of the old zoo, such as the rock with an iron bar stuck in it, once part of the cage for bears. What an awesome place! We hiked up here from our hotel by the river and just enjoyed the green space. Definitely worth it to visit, especially if you have kids. Hiking back down by the Cliffside area.... more

This is one of the most beautiful parks to Spokane and the pacific northwest. This is a park and not a national or state park. The city truly cares about this park, from the rose gardens to the Japanese gardens with fish in the pond. You find something for someone of all ages. Lots of walking and running area, sports courts, play area, ponds with fish, gardens of various types. Could spend family time there or make it a perfect end to a date night
This is one of the most beautiful parks I have been to! They have many different themed spots and each one is unique in its own way. Perfect place for a picnic or a nice walk through the different gardens. This is a must see in Spokane. We visited in the spring time so dome flowers like roses had not bloomed yet.
