Museum of Pop Culture is dedicated to contemporary popular culture, with exhibits focusing mainly on rock music and science fiction. Inside the unusual building--which resembles a large smashed guitar--you can visit the guitar gallery to learn about the development of one of rock music's defining instruments. The gallery displays 55 vintage guitars from 1770 to the present, including impressive specimens played by musicians such as Eddie Van Halen, Bo Diddley, and Kurt Cobain. Give your own rocking performance in front of a virtual audience with the interactive on-stage exhibit. Walk through the science fiction and fantasy hall of fame to learn about the lives and work of some of the genre's greatest creators and innovators. Best museum in Seattle! I went with my teen son. We both loved it! Interesting and relevant. He even learned about music from when I was a teen.

This was a fun museum to visit. The galleries on hip-hop and Nirvana were enjoyable. We didn't have much time to see the rest of the museum. It'd really be great if someone could put a pillow or padding in the drum set that patrons can play on. I know those instruments incur a lot of usage by the public, but putting sound-deadening material inside the kick drum is not cost prohibitive. You can even see that in the drum set in the Nirvana exhibit.

Place looks cool on the outside, but is super boring on the inside. Agreed with other reviews that the museum needs to update more pop culture. Maybe this museum is more fun for 80s kids. Don’t expect anything past 2010 except Disney and hip hop. You could easily finish everything in under an hour. Definitely not worth $30 for a Saturday here. Maybe $10 max. Doesn’t seem like they really update anything either.
