Granite Mountain Outfitters, Salida

We had an amazing trail ride with Calamity! She was friendly and informative. We appreciated everything she had to show us and all the facts about the area. We were a group of five and all of us were well-fitted to our horses (and mule), and very comfortable. Calamity was even kind enough to take our photos. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously and would definitely choose this experience again!! For anyone visiting Great Sand Dunes National Park, like we were, this outfitter is definitely worth the trip! It was a fantastic, memorable ride!

This June (2022), we had the pleasure of riding at Granite Mountain Outfitters. We rode back in 2019 and had such a great experience that this summer, after not getting to do many outings in 2020 and 2021, I looked through my photographs to find the exact place we had ridden so I could book them again. It was just as wonderful as it had been three years ago. My three children and I even got to ride some of the same horses that we remembered from the previous ride. The scenery was just as gorgeous, the experience very personal, the guide just as knowledgeable, the horses gentle but responsive. This is not a nose-to-tail, walking in the dust trail ride. Novice to experienced riders will all have a great time, and that is rare! Usually experienced riders are bored or novice riders are nervous, but this stable has this incredible balance of well-cared for horses that are well-controlled by the rider of any level. They do well to care for the trails so they are well maintained but still natural and interesting. The views are unreal. We will be looking to come back and do one of the longer rides in the future. Thank you to Granite Mountain Outfitters for making our experiences with you so special each time we have visited.
