Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship
The Blue Ridge Center is a nonprofit organization that manages nearly 900 acres featuring hiking trails through deep woods, babbling streams, a working farm, wildflower meadows, and historic farmsteads. Located in the western region of Virginia's Loudoun county, we are a key member of the community – our land protects Potomac River tributaries and the Chesapeake Bay watershed, preserves the Appalachian Trail viewshed, and conserves the natural habitat for hundreds of animal species. Few public spaces so close to the big city offer such deep woods to enjoy the sounds of birdsong and to spend a few precious hours away from the bustle of everyday life. Local horse trails are amazing. Until this becomes a state park you need to be a member of USTR to ride the trails. Hi king these beautiful trails is free.

Nice, but the particular route I followed took me away from the bridges. There are two nice wood bridges so you don’t have to cross 6-12” of water. Just take the left branch of the trail as you leave the visitor center and you will come to the first bridge. Don’t cross where AllTrails tells you to. All in all, this is a really beautiful place and definitely worth the visit!!!

Blue Ridge Center has a lot to offer the naturist. Trails abound through forests, streams, meadows. The stream crossings can get your feet wet. Hiking piles for stability will help. The fields under the power lines were grown thick in August, making the trails narrow, and so they have a lot of ticks. I pulled off three in just 5 minutes. Check yourself thoroughly! I got no ticks from the forest trails. Overall, a good 2 hr visit.
