Anytime you can spend some time in the forests, it is a great day. Pisgah has it all with waterfalls, trails, scenic drives, and so much more. I always enjoy a visit to Pisgah National Forest.

The Cradle of Forestry Overlook is just one of the quiet treasures nestled on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Today it was closed for ice and storm damage, but a short walk up from open parking you could still view and enjoy all this. It’s my weekend getaway for a peaceful sunrise, so all y’all steer clear ok? 🙃

My son and I went hiking through the Pisgah Forest (August 2022) starting out on the North Slope trail - connecting to Art Loeb to get to the top of the mountain. We were chased back down by thunder and lightning but for what we did see it was absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful little bridges placed here and there to help hikers over steeper areas with running water. Also plenty of fallen logs over the trail with the tops carefully cut away and scored to ensure hiking boots don’t slip when stepping over. The trails were so well maintained that at one point I even told my son while hiking that - I hope I’m not jinxing it but - I didn’t see one single piece of litter the entire hike and we were out there for three hours.
