Create an itinerary including Ohiopyle State Park
Bike, hike, or whitewater raft along the Youghiogheny River Gorge at Ohiopyle State Park. This park, which opened in 1965, features 23 km (14 mi) of the Youghiogheny River and boasts some of the best rafting in the eastern United States. Different parts of the park offer level I and II rapids, while another section affords the more difficult level III and IV rapids. Take in stunning views of the park's many waterfalls, including the 6.1 m (20 ft) Ohiopyle Falls, as you raft. Another favorite is the park's natural Meadow Run Waterslides, which have been carved out by nature and function like a waterpark waterslide in a natural setting, only a bit rougher. You can also canoe, kayak, horseback ride, and even cross-country ski through this 19,052 hectare (7,710 acre) park with over 160 km (100 mi) of trails. • Beautiful area for hiking. I only hiked but bike riding, kayaking and white water rafting are big here too. Great, well-marked trails. A ton of locations, variety and lots to see! A wonderful location for a quick weekend trip - or longer. I stayed at Kentuck campground and would recommend that too.
  • Very Beautiful park nearby Pittsburgh and has a lot to do. The trails are well maintained. There are some primitive backpacking sites at bear run reserve if you like hiking/camping. Rent a cruiser and bike at the GAP trails. Hike to the cucumber falls and swim at the Natural Water Slides.
