Admire Natural Bridge State Park, a tree-lined natural rock arch spanning a gorge in the mountainous terrain of western Virginia. Over the 19th and 20th centuries, this carved-out rock formation measuring 66 m (215 ft) high, and 27 m (90 ft) wide was known as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Thomas Jefferson so greatly admired the natural landmark that he purchased the bridge in 1774 from the King of England for 20 shillings. After admiring the bridge, take a stroll down the Cedar Creek Trail, which runs for about one 1.6 km (1 mi), and passes near the Cedar Creek Cafe. • Lovely walk through the Bridge and to the end. It gets a little muddy and going up and down the steps can be steep. Bring appropriate footwear, but it is well work it.

  • Beautiful and amazing that little creek made the formation. Beautiful Virginia State Park, but they do NOT offer a military discount, sad that Virginia doesn't appreciate the Veterans.

  • My family loved exploring here! The trail was beautiful and so well-maintained. The natural Bridge was INCREDIBLE! And we also loved Lace Falls at the end of the trail and the cave! The visitor center was so nice, bathrooms were very clean, and they had picnic tables for lunch! Would recommend visiting!
  • This is truly an amazing natural wonder. Just to stand underneath the natural bridge and see it towering over you is mesmerizing. Seeing initials of people who have visited long years ago, especially like George Washington's, and to think someone who was so prominent in the building of our nation stood in the same place I did was humbling. The Indian village was not in operation on my visit but was still visible. The cave and lost river were nice to see but the waterfall at the end of the trail was beautiful. There's plenty of beautiful sights along the trail. I enjoyed my visit and will be back.
