Create an itinerary including Fields of the Wood
View the world's largest set of the Ten Commandments at Fields of the Wood, a Bible-based park in the Smoky Mountains. Step into the stories of the Bible and hike through this natural setting while viewing the All Nations cross, prayer mountain chapel, and a recreated tomb of Joseph of Arimathea, where Jesus was laid after his death. A long staircase ascends the hillside where the famous commandments are etched, so you can see the record-breaker up close. Driving to the top is also an option. Put Fields of the Wood and other Murphy attractions into our Murphy travel website, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • This is such a cool place! I suggest climbing up the mountain just for the experience. It is quite a hike but worth it! If you don't want to walk up the stairs, you can drive up. My 4-year-old, 65-year-old Dad, 40-year-old husband and I made the walk up and survived! Don't forget to visit the All Nations Cross while at the top. It's a long walk from the top of the Ten Commandments mountain but there are some amazing views from there too! You can also drive up there. Next up, Prayer Mountain. We drove to the top then walked down. Then we checked out the replica of the Garden Tomb. There were live bats in there (not to worry it was like 3 and they were undisturbed by us). Lastly, check out the gift shop and bring a picnic lunch. Feed the fish in the pond! Overall, just a great place to visit! Donations encouraged for upkeep.
  • What a surprise to just run upon this Beautiful place! I had heard of it, but had no idea we were going to pass it on our weekend destination! God’s presence is surely in this Place! You can drive to the top of each mountain but to walk it and read the scriptures is amazing! So blessed that my knees let me do the steps! There were 4 of us on this trip and I was the only one who could do the steps! It is totally free and Beautiful! They ask for donations!
