  • This is the original Washington Monument located at the foot of Boonsboro (MD), bordering on the Washington/Frederick County lines. There is a small but very informative ranger station in the parking area and the AT runs right around the tower. The Tower, as I call it, has great observations of the surrounding landscape and towns. There is a very narrow winding stairwell inside one can use to get to the top. A must visit.
  • So this is what I consider a Hidden Gem, The View that you have from the top of South Mountain is absolutely breathtaking. From the top of the Monument you can see the entire Valley. This place is beautiful year around and you also get to see the Appalachian Trail
