Hoapili Trail, Makena

Absolutely beautiful hike. The hike is tough mostly as your on lava rocks the entire trail. It’s worth every step. Make sure to wear thick protective bottomed shoes. When we went it was cool and over cast so weather was perfect. Parking is limited. Make sure to bring a camera or have your phone charged up. The views Are pretty special and the natural arch formations in the rocks from the waves were a 10. The only reason I gave it 5 stars was its pretty risky so just be aware and keeps your eyes on the ground when walking so you don’t eat the lava rocks

The first half of the hike was beautiful with shady spots, beautiful beaches and water to cool off. We also saw goats wandering around. We decided to take the left trail to Kanaio Beach. This part is very rough terrain with no shade. You will need good shoes and lots of water for this part of the trail. If you can endure it the beach had swings and a beautiful private beach to cool off in.
