Great museum complex with a surprisingly varied and large collection for a "County" museum. Lots of Picassos for example, and other modern art. And of course a nice sampling of earlier Renaissance..... more

This is a great museum! It covers all eras of art from ancient through to modern, one of the only museums on earth to do that. The collection is powerful, especially considering this museum started collecting long after museums in other parts of the country. The special exhibits are numerous and always interesting. I became a member 20+ years ago and will be a member for life. Their plans for the future are incredible. The museum is slowly closing galleries now and the older buildings will be demolished. The new museum will open after several years of construction. The plans look amazing and Los Angeles will have another architectural gem, full of world - class art. The redo of the museum is taking a bit longer than expected. They've found more bones and deposits when digging the foundations. That's a nice thing for the Natural History's Page Museum. For now, enjoy the new temporary exhibits! Three new ones there today, and two more coming soon.

My experience here was quite nice. Parking is convenient (but pricey). The COVID protocols make it so that all visitors feel safe (temps are taken, vaccination cards are a must, and masks are also mandated). The indoor exhibits were beautiful and intricate. The outdoor installations were very nice as well and great for photo ops!
