Herb Brooks Arena, Lake Placid

Seeing the rink where the USA won the Miracle on Ice in 1980 was amazing! If you haven’t already, please go here and see history and if you’re lucky maybe there will be a game playing!

newly updated arena where the miracle on ice 1980 men's Olympic hockey team beat the USSR and countless other miracle's have happened on this rink. there is a new museum where where you can watch a video called "small towns, big dreams" all about how lake placid NY made its mark way before the Olympics leading up to the 1932 and 1980 Olympics...yes that's right lake placid NY has hosted two Olympics. the only place in the world to host it more than once. winter that is anyway. the video will most likely talks about former NY governor and former United States president Franklin delanor Roosevelt having some responsibility into promoting the "forever wild act" which made it illegal to development in the Adirondacks because its a NY state park with 6 billion acres of wild life. FDR also had some involvement in the 1932 winter Olympics games. with the veterans memorial highway up whiteface mountains ski slope. the highway is only accessed during the summer season. don't forget to check out whiteface mountain ski slope, the ski jumps, the bobsled track, and the original Olympic coldren from 1980 out on the horse show grounds in lake placid NY.
