Commemorative Airforce Museum is the all volunteer operational arm of the American Airpower Heritage Museum, headquartered in Midland, Texas. The inventory includes more than 155 vintage aircraft nation-wide, and this is the only national flying museum affiliated with the Smithsonian Institute. The museum currently maintains and flies a 1942 Boeing Stearman open cockpit biplane, a RC-45J Navy Reconnaissance aircraft built in 1943, and a Fairchild PT-26. Privately owned aircraft within the group are also on display and include a PV-2 Harpoon, SNJ Texan, Russian YAK-50, L-5 Stinson, PT-17 Stearman, and a Nanchang CJ6.
