Visit the third highest peak of the Great Smoky Mountains and trek along one of five trails at Mount LeConte. You'll earn a magnificent view from atop the peak, but mind that the ascent is tough, with trail lengths ranging from 7.9 km (4.9 mi) to 14.3 km (8.9 mi). Once you've completed the hike, have a meal and rest at the mountaintop lodge, renowned for its hospitality among visitors. Wear adequate footwear for the hike and prepare for sudden weather changes. This felt like a tough 12-mile hike (via Alum Cave Trail) but was so worth it! We loved stopping at LeConte Lodge to eat and seeing the llamas. Breathtaking mountain views and an unforgettable hike!
