1862 David Walleys Restaurant and Saloon, Genoa

The food, atmosphere, and server l were amazing! However, iff you visit, I hope they have let their hostess go so she doesn't passive aggressively treat you like you're not welcome as well. We had a 5pm reservation, Saturday, Mother's Day weekend, and arrived from the hot springs at 5:07pm. Yes, we were not perfectly on time due to a wait for a shower, which might have warranted a polite request to please be on time next time we return. We stood in the lobby alone until 5:13pm and were "greeted" by the hostess with "its a good thing you weren't two minutes later, otherwise I wouldn't have seated you". Not only was she not there when we arrived, she could have had some class in the method she chose to remind us we were late. After ignoring her comment and smiling so as to not ruin a pleasant dinner honor a wonderful and beautiful mom, she proceeded to make two more passive aggressive comments on our way to the table. Now, mind you, the entire time we ate, half of the tables were left empty (likely due to short staffing). Then, while waiting in the lobby after the meal (again, food was amazing, and so was our server), while my date used the facilities, this same server makes a comment to a couple who had just arrived for their reservation that their table would be available when the previous diners were done taking their sweet time. This hostess clearly did not want to be there. And I understand being short staffed, however, 1862 would be better off with no staff than with this hostess being the first impression you get. We will return and try again. However, if she is the hostess, we will go elsewhere.

Talk about getting away from it all and still having all the comforts of home. I haven't slept that well in a long time and I can't wait to go back. It was so quiet there my ears hurt as I am from a metropolitan area, just PERFECT.
