Peak to Peak Scenic Byway runs from Estes Park to Black Hawk, passing many historical mine sites and offering views of the Continental Divide. Small communities along the way are good stopping points for refreshments. The ridges and valleys of the Front Range serve as a backdrop for the journey. If you'd like to add searching for gold to your itinerary, stop at one of the old mines to pan in the creeks for a fee. The 89 km (55 mi) byway passes multiple scenic areas where you can hike, bike, fish and camp, including Rocky Mountain National Park, Golden Gate Canyon State Park, and Arapaho and Roosevelt national forests. Dont miss this drive, there are plenty of attractions on the way, very less traffic, small towns in between, winding roads, very good view of the valley. If you are in hurry don’t take this road, its bit slow. We drove almost 35 miles and came back to Rocky Mountain. While coming back the view was spectacular, even the driver can enjoy. I couldn’t take many photos. Its worth a drive

Beautiful drive between Steamboat and Estes Park. Couldn’t get a National Park pass for a more direct route. We weren’t in a hurry so it worked out great. Stopped at a picnic area on the way and enjoyed the river
