The Eden Historical Museum is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization. It was originally an initiative of the Eden Preservation Society until it gained it's own non-profit status in 2015. All contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. We are staffed completely by volunteers and depend upon your support for our current and future projects!

After two years of fund-raising and temporary exhibits, the museum held its official ribbon cutting on September 19, 2009, at which time about half of their permanent displays were unveiled. When all exhibits are completed, the museum will tell the history of what is now Eden, North Carolina, from Prehistoric times to the consolidation of Leaksville, Spray and Draper in 1967 to form one city, including: The Triassic Era, Saura Indians, William Byrd, the rivers, Leaksville Landing, the Civil War, textile mills (Marshall Field, Fieldcrest, etc), Gov. Luther Hodges, WWI, the Great Depression, WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, people, places, events, and much, much more!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!

Can you spare a few hours a month on Saturdays to help staff the museum? We also need volunteers to help with a wide variety of other duties such as: helping to plan and staff special events, carpentry, public speaking, housekeeping, building maintenance, organizing photographs and acquisitions, guiding tours, helping to create exhibits, historical research, etc. Please call or send an email to let us know how you would like to help!

  • Visited there a couple of years ago. Wish it was open more. It needs more space for exhibits and walk through traffic.

  • This is literally almost around the corner from my house. I was a little surprised that there was a fee to get in, because from the outside it looks a lot like Ny of the atores on the street. But...

  • Small little quaint town. This is not a place that you would go to if you want a lot of action but it's definitely a place that you would love to visit if you want some quiet time. They have these beautiful wood crosses sitting in the middle of a location in Eden North Carolina which holds so much spiritual strength go visit people help this town make Eden North Carolina rise up. While I was here I was at freedom Park for an RV stop and I noticed three women of color, one man of color, and one man of light skin. They were washing many clothes too many for just a small amount of people. One man and two of the women were keeping a close eye on me but I wanted to get close to find out more information because it looked a little sneaky as I asked where the laundrymat was and they said that you would need a car to get into town and not within walking distance. While I was there I noticed one of the women slouched over like she had been taking too many medications. The light skin man seen that I was wearing a Colorado shirt an in despair seem like he was reaching out to me to tell me that he has family in Colorado and to look up the Scots. If anyone knows of the Scotts in Colorado please go find your family member I think they are taking advantage of him there you will find him at freedom Park.
  • It is only open on Saturdays from 10am to 4pm so unfortunately I could only look thru window exhibit. What I saw was intriguing. If I happen to be in town on a Saturday, I will definitely visit. Admission is only $1.00 Street parking was plentiful. There is a lovely coffee shop up the street.
