Excellent sub-alpine meadows, wildflowers in season, summit rocks and great views out to many notable peaks and volcanoes. Views to Mount Baker, Mount Shuksan, Glacier Peak, Sloan Peak, Mount Pugh and many others. However, one has to come early or late and/or on a weekday to avoid crowds. This is one of the more popular hikes in the area. The trail gains elevation quickly but the round trip mileage is short, just over 4 miles. I would say this is a moderate hike for most people in relatively good condition and easy for a seasoned hiker in good shape. The fantastic views and meadows made the trip worth it, despite the crowds. And again, you can minimize the crowds, by coming on a weekday and early.
