  • Went to visit the museum, which was closed due to snow storm. But the display outside was still worth the visit. Great number of famous aircraft in AF history! Well worth the time.

  • What a gem! So much history with excellent exhibits. Tireless hours have gone into this museum. It's sad more people don't visit. Our guide was Jake. Knowledgeable, experienced, and fun to interact with. We thank him so much for his military service, but even more for volunteering his time at this wonderful museum.
  • The Air and Space Museum, located within Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs is a real treat for military aircraft enthusiasts. Start off by watching the 9 minute video in the 1941 Art Deco Terminal that now houses the gift store and museum offices. Exhibits there provide a brief history of the base which now shares its airfield with the Colorado Springs Airport. Beyond the historic terminal building, several iconic military aircraft and missile systems are on display for close inspection and photography. An impressively restored collection of fighters, interceptors, reconaisance aircraft and bombers is clustered around two historic hangers. An EC-121T Warning Star, based on the Lockheed Constellation, is the star of the display - providing a painful reminder of the 1969 incident in which 31 lives were lost. In one hangar currently open to visitors, guests can view a training facility for the Peacekeeper Missile system and get up close to a Minuteman missile nosecone and MIRV mock-up. Other displays include a frightening collection of nuclear tipped weapons that were in service in US skies during the decades of the cold war. Peterson AFB contains an active flight line close to the museum that visitors will find interesting. We were fortunate to have an well informed and entertaining guide who did an excellent job of leading us through this amazing collection of historic exhibits.
