University of Virginia is a renowned center of learning--as well as a prime example of Jeffersonian architecture. The university's layout is a result of Thomas Jefferson's plan to design a stimulating environment for contemplation and intellectual exchange. All the famous parts, such as the Lawn, the Gardens, and the Range, serve this purpose. The centerpiece of the university is the Rotunda, inspired by the Roman Pantheon; it originally housed the university library. Subsequent extensions were carefully made to match Jefferson's original design. Walking tours are available, but you should make an online reservation ahead of time. University of Virginia offers that academic village concept with a grand rotunda and lawn area replete with gardens and serpentine walls. This is a great campus to stroll and enjoy that university...

My dad is currently there in the trauma unit after sustaining major injuries from an ATV accident. The nurses are taking fantastic care of him and we have nothing to worry about, even from an hour away. UVA has been there to provide quality care for everyone in my family and they are a friendly staff willing to help.

Pro: Unmistakably a university. Many nice bricks. Has a piece of the Berlin Wall. I am told the libraries work properly. Con: Seems like it may be controlled by secret societies. No, really, there are too many of them and they leave sinister marks all over campus. No joke here.
