Capitol Market is an indoor outdoor year-round market that anchors the Charleston community, allowing bakers, makers, farmers, fishmongers, crafters, potters and more to offer their wares to the rush of grateful locals and strolling tourists.

“The changing seasons dictate the inventory, which means you'll never visit the same market twice. It’s a spectacular place to plug into the vibe of this vibrant mountain ringed town and grab some authentic West Virginia wares to remember your trip.”

Capitol Market is located in a charming, restored turn-of-the-century train station from the 1800’s. We have convenient and plentiful free parking, a Charleston Visitor Center and are located in the heart of downtown. We’re just minutes from the West Virginia Capitol Complex, State Culture Center, Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences & Appalachian Power Park – less than 1/2 mile from the convergence of Interstates 77, 79 & 64!

We feature a fine Italian restaurant, indoor specialty shops, over 30 seasonal West Virginia outdoor farmers and growers, a 900 foot-long porch with seating for alfresco dining, plus multiple community events. Come see us during your visit and explore our unique slice of Appalachia!

  • Love the capitol flea market. There’s so many great shops to eat and try diff things. Gift shops and not to mention get fresh farm grown produce from grits farm and tons of beautiful flowers. Always enjoy walking around looking at all the pretty flowers
  • Impressive market place. The building is clean, easy to find, and well-organized. We visited the Capitol Market on the event day. The event was well organized. There are a lot of people but it is not too crowded. The place is spread out for vendors to set up their products and display stuff comfortably. Food vendors are both inside and outside the building. That make it very easy for people and vendors to find things to eat. They offer variety kinds of food from Asian to American cuisines, including many local alcohol drinks.
