Very cool to see! Note some of the pioneers who passed through here used their gun and bullets to “ shoot” their names or initials into the rocks. The walk into this site is easy and quite level...

This is the "highlight" of the Capitol Gorge hike. The walls are covered in graffiti left by the first settlers over a century and a half ago (including the Gifford's, for whom the famous homestead building that today sells pie is named), as well as some petroglyphs from even earlier visitors. Walking along the same path these settlers took to make it out west is a pretty awesome experience. Getting here requires a relatively short and rather easy hike along a wash surrounded by large rocks. The hike itself is very unremarkable, but what makes this hike a 5-star attraction in my book is the impressive surroundings and the incredible history. Make sure to check the weather before doing this hike, as it is in a wash with sheer cliff faces on either side. If there is rain in the forecast, best to avoid. Also unless you have a 4WD or high clearance vehicle, take it slow on the fairly well-maintained, though still somewhat rough road leading to the parking lot

The trail is awesome. The giant cliff face with names written all over it is awesome. The drive there is awesome. Took some pictures of wildlife we saw on the road to the hike.
