Pay your respects to the Allied soldiers that participated in the 1944 invasion of Normandy at National D-Day Memorial. An English garden, victory plaza, and invasion tableau serve as a powerful tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of those who took part in the World War II battle. As the American town that suffered the greatest per-capita loss on D-Day, Bedford makes a fitting home for this important memorial, opened in 2001. Read the names of the residents who participated in the D-Day event alongside many more on tablets that border the Elmon T. Gray Plaza. The list includes all 4,413 fallen Allied soldiers, making it the most complete list of its kind in the world. Take a guided tour to learn more and read the information displays throughout the site. Very moving. The volunteer (maybe Susan) was so knowledgeable and made our tour interesting and enjoyable. Our thoughts hearkened back to our fathers who both served in WWII. The Bedford Boys especially touched my husband's heart since he recently read the book written about these heroic men. Thank you to all who have/are/or will serve our country. God Bless America! 🇺🇸
