Bryce Resort is a 400-acre member-owned resort the northern part of Virginia's Shenandoah Valley that is open to the public. Opened in 1965 and located near the West Virginia border, 11 miles west of Mount Jackson, Virginia. The resort is very popular with residents of the valley, as well as families and tourists from the Washington, D.C. area, some 115 miles (185 km) away. Principal activities include skiing, golf, mountain activities, mountain biking, tennis, fishing, and water sports at Lake Laura and the resort pool.To visit Bryce Resort and get the most from your holiday in Basye, create itinerary details personal to you using our Basye road trip planner.
The ski area was opened as a year-round resort by Pete and Julie Brice in 1965, seeking to attract visitors drawn to the nearby Orkney Springs, and has been in operation ever since. In December 2020 Bryce was rated one of the Top 25 family-friendly ski resorts in North America by Yelp. Due to the relatively temperate climate of northwestern Virginia, the resort relies considerably on artificial snowmaking, and was one of the first and only resorts in North America to introduce grass skiing during summer months though that activity is no longer supported. Weather permitted, golf is played year-round. The 18-hole PGA Championship course offers challenges of trees and a creek that meanders throughout.
The resort was managed by brothers Horst and Manfred Locher until 1997 and is now managed by Ryan Locher.

Sure, the ski hills are not the best, however, my favorite time to visit this place was in the fall. Almost all the surrounding trees has such vibrant colour and I really enjoyed the drive to/from there, seeing the trees on the mountains and hills. Hiking trails are nearby within walking and driving distance , as this place is fairly secluded. You'll need to rent a car or have a friend drive you there) There is a store nearby in driving range.(buy grocerie/toiletry items from a store on the way as this store has a limited supply with certain items and some may be pricey. I adore this area of the Shenandoah Valley, such amazing views and nature to explore.

We made day trips to Bryce Resort multiple weekends during the 2022 ski season. This was our first season visiting Bryce and we were teaching our 3 kids (all under 6 years old) to ski. This is the perfect place to teach kids to ski and for the adults to have some fun too. - there are multiple bunny slopes all with carpet lifts - there is a main building at the bottom of the slope with two dining areas - a cafeteria and a restaurant. The restaurant has great food, service, drinks, and vibes! - a lot of people pack lunches and just eat picnic style at the outdoor tables at the base - all staff and guests were so friendly - the resort has a very relaxed welcoming atmosphere. - 2022 ski season required advance lift ticket and rental reservations which were easy and seamless All three of our kids were skiing the blues by the end of the season! Thank you Bryce, we will be back next ski season!
