USS Slater (DE-766) is a Cannon-class destroyer escort that served in the United States Navy and later in the Hellenic (Greek) Navy. Following service during World War II, the ship was transferred to Greece and renamed Aetos. Decommissioned in 1991, the destroyer escort was returned to the United States.

USS Slater is now a museum ship on the Hudson River in Albany, New York, the only one of its kind afloat in the United States. As of 2020, fewer than 12 destroyer escorts survive, with Slater the only one in its wartime configuration. Slater was designated a National Historic Landmark on 2 March 2012.
USS Slater was struck by the Hudson River touring ship Dutch Apple on 10 September 2019. A mechanical issue aboard Dutch Apple was to blame for the collision.

  • We had a tour by Art that lasted at least an hour. You could tell he had a love for the ship and enjoyed imparting knowledge and telling stories. It was great.

  • Went 5/19/2022 for our tour. It was the first time for both my husband and myself. Our tour guide, Tyler, was very interesting and knowledgeable. We learned a lot and had a great time! Definitely...

  • The Slater was a better trip than I thought it would be, not that I thought it would be bad but I didn't expect the kids to have a blowout of such fun! As a group sleeping over, the tour was informative but free time is where the kids get to use their imagination and roam the boat freely with their friends. The guys running the tours are fantastic, thank you for the great experience!
  • The ship is in great condition. The tour guide was very good, and knew the ship well. It's a great piece of history that lets you see how our sailors lived in WWII.
