Create an itinerary including Worcester Cathedral
History and beauty combine at Worcester Cathedral, built over a period of over four centuries, starting in 1084. The cathedral represents every style of English architecture, from Norman to Perpendicular Gothic. Noted for its Norman crypt and unique chapter house, the cathedral also features unusual Transitional Gothic bays, fine woodwork, and an iconic central tower. The cathedral contains the tomb of King John who, before his death in 1216, specifically requested to be buried here, between the shrines of St. Wulstan and St. Oswald (which no longer exist). Guided historical tours are offered year round, which you can book online or at the cathedral’s Chapter Office. By using our Worcester road trip planning website, you can arrange your visit to Worcester Cathedral and other attractions in Worcester.

  • Free to enter place of worship. Worth going to see the tomb of King John alone. On this visit certain sections weren't open due to repairs , which did spoil the visit a little. There are some great tombs and a wonderful carved wooden triptych. Also a lovely cloister area to walk round which is where you will find a cafe, toilets and gift shop. We'll worth a visit. Most days the cathedral shuts at 5pm
  • Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Worcester. No admission fees but donations are very much appreciated. So much to look at- from the stained glass to the intricate carvings and painting on the ceiling and altars/ tombs.
