Took a shortcut to Hallin Fell, drove and parked at St. Peter’s Church. Within 30 minutes climb, the scenic of Ullswater was stunning. Enjoyed the beautiful weather and the breeze and was immersed in.... more

Great Wainwright fell to walk if you only have an hour or so. Views at the top v effort ratio are very good. Easy to park by St Peters church.

Park at St Peter’s Church to get to Hallin Fell. GPS will say you have arrived, but keep going/driving up until you see the church hidden to your left and parking spaces. The road leading to the church is single track (with passing places) and particularly challenging about 1 minute away from the parking. It’s uphill at 784ft…and no through road (you’ll see signs stating this), so, you must drive down the curvy road again. What an adventure! Hike up Hallin Fell is slippery when it’s raining and the view of Ullswater is just stunning. I recommend a circular walk.
