  • This is a family home with fascinating history and made especially interesting by our lovely guide. Astonishing detail in every little room we are taken to.

  • Fantastic historic mansion to visit in the northern Lake District. Gardens are fantastic and well laid out with many varied areas full of interesting flowers, shrubs and trees. All very carefully tended by dedicated garden staff who were out working hard even in October. The house itself was an exceptional place to visit. We were given a tour by an extremely knowledgeable guide (Stuart ?). He had a remarkable memory for all the dates and facts of the history of the house and the various branches of the families who lived there. Spent around three and a half hours there finally enjoying a lovely coffee and cake from the on-site cafe. Definitely worth a visit !
  • Picturesque place to visit. The gardens are excellently maintained with wonderful fragrant flowers as well many areas to sit with a gorgeous view. Lots of wildlife to be seen if you’re lucky. The staff are very informative and polite. Would definitely recommend adding on your to do list.
