At Churchill War Rooms, see how Winston Churchill and his inner circle directed the British war effort from this bunker complex. In the Cabinet War Rooms, which served as Churchill's living quarters, look for the chair--with scratch marks on its arms--in which Sir Winston sat while strategizing with his closest advisers. The books, color-coded telephones, and documents on desks in the Map Room remain just as they were when the bunker emptied on August 16, 1945. Moving on to the Churchill Room, see where Churchill slept while in the bunker. In the Churchill Museum, learn all about the life of the leader who guided Britain through one of the most trying periods of its history. The site does not have a cloakroom, so expect to carry or wear whatever you bring with you. So much information and the place even had an "atmosphere"! I could have spent a day there but my partner was not that interested.

Excellent museum exhibits. Removing two stars for the high price (29 pounds a person) and very rude treatment by the staff. We had been enjoying the Winston Churchill exhibits with many other people when staff showed up and rudely shooed us out of the room and told us we had only 30 minutes and had to pick up the pace. 30 minutes turned out to not even be enough time to listen to the audio guide for the remaining museum exhibits. In my experience museums typically budget some time after official closing for people in the middle of the museum to complete it. Not so here, we were constantly hounded to keep moving and followed closely through the one way tunnels. At very least the staff could have been polite to us instead of treating us as an inconvenience. Especially when the standard and already expensive admission includes a 10% donation by default. At the end of the museum is a gift shop as is typical. We were told that we had 2 minutes to get to the register or they would refuse to sell us anything after 6pm. This caused everyone to rush and created unnecessary chaos. On top of all that it wasn't even true the cashiers were extremely polite and accommodating and were taking purchases well after 6 I understand that staff want to go home but I expect better treatment especially for the price. Perhaps an earlier notice or at very least an apology for interjecting would have been appropriate

Neat historic spot right in the middle of downtown London. The bunker has been nicely upkept to preserve the history. The audio guides for the tour do not require headphones. I do recommend the audio tour, as it nicely complements the walk through. You can move at your own pace. We took a teenager and he enjoyed the history of WWII. We also caught a neat parade as we were leaving.
