Buckingham Palace serves as a splendid reminder of the monarch's continued importance in British culture. If you visit during August or September, you'll have the opportunity to tour the palace's opulent staterooms. The queen receives and entertains guests and conducts special ceremonies in these spaces. Many of the furnishings date back to the 1830s, when King George IV transformed Buckingham House into a palace. On your tour, you'll learn how the monarch uses each of the 19 staterooms, hear colorful history relating to these spaces, and see numerous works in the British royals' art collection. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes, because the tour lasts from 2-2.5 hours and stretches out over 0.8 km (0.5 miles). Photography is not permitted inside. If you visit outside of August and September, you can still watch the changing of the guard outside the palace. The palace itself is majestic, as well as the surrounding statues, monuments and gates. The Canada gate in particular looks amazing, happy for my home country to be represented at the beating heart...

I loved it. It was quite great to see this famous palace. It became much more beautiful as the sun set and the palace lights started lighting up the palace and it's surroundings. It was not as crowded as other parts of London today. Definitely worth visiting.

Buckingham Palace is truly one of the most popular tourist destinations in London, and obviously for a very good reason. It's the official residence of the British monarchy (the queen), and it's absolutely massive and beautify built. I was really impressed with how well-kept everything was and how organized everything is. The gardens are so beautiful, and there's so much history inside and outside the palace. The Changing of the Guard ceremony was so beautiful and thousands of people were outside watching the ceremony. I would definitely recommend a visit if you're in London, it's a must see.
