Blair Atholl Watermill is Scotland's oldest working watermill, located in Blair Atholl, Perth and Kinross, and dating to around 1830. There has been a mill on the site since at least the 1590s. After it stopped being used, in 1929, it became a store. In 1977 it was restored by John Ridley and the last miller's assistant, who could still remember the previous mill. In 1993 it passed to James and Mary Bruce. Today, the building is used as a tea room, owned by the Bruces' children.
The mill's waterwheel is powered by the River Tilt, and can only be used when the river is in full spate.

  • Great cheap food just a shame the mill not working. They bake bread etc with the flour from the mill. It seems a well organised system and the food is simple but tasty. It is a fast lunch option...

  • What a gem of a place! Their courgette and leek soup was delicious, as was the cheese scone accompaniment. The carrot cake to follow was beautifully light and fluffy! Indoors was fairly busy, so I sat outside, listening to the birds and enjoying the lovely surroundings. Blair Atholl Watermill is great place to stop off for quality baking. There is plenty parking and lots of space available to sit outside, if inside gets too busy. But watch out - it's closed on Tuesdays!
  • After cycling for 3 hours this was the perfect place to stop for lunch. Gorgeous homemade soup and freshly baked rolls, and very well priced for the quality. (£7 for soup and a filled roll). Friendly helpful staff and lovely outdoor seating area.
