Different than other popular country houses, Upton House & Gardens thrived in the 1930s. A venue for lavish weekend parties, Lord Bearstead remodeled the house to be a millionaire’s ideal country getaway. Try your hand at a game of pool or play the large grand piano. Ask the staff about the extensive art collection. Stroll through the sprawling, thriving gardens. Enjoy a picnic on the lawn or order a meal from the restaurant--they use ingredients sourced directly from the gardens. Parking is free, but no pets are allowed. Wow! An awesome art collection in such an exceptional environment. To see such works up close is so unusual these days. Will definitely visit again. (Also my daughter enjoyed making her Jubilee crown in the courtyard. Great activity! Thank you!)

A very interesting place to visit, with lots of history. The house is large but only a small part of it is open for public viewing. From the house you can see a large rather uninspiring lawn, but walk to the end of the lawn and you suddenly see a huge terraced drop with terraced gardens. Its certainly impressive, but not for those with mobility issues. There is plenty of car parking and a very nice cafe, so this house is certainly worth a visit.
