Hayes Garden World Ambleside
Hayes Garden World is a family owned business that has been in existence, in one form or another, since the early 19th century. Over the years they have been involved in the design & construction of gardens at Lowther Castle, Sizergh Castle & Chelsea Flower Show, where TR Hayes received royal recognition for his design in 1924. Five generations, of the Hayes family, have been involved in the gardening trade and the present site was opened in 1921. There have been many changes to the site over the years, the latest starting in 2010, involving the expansion & development of our World of Plants, Outdoor Living, World of Interiors & new Pets & Aquatic section. It couldn't be easier to arrange your visit to Hayes Garden World Ambleside and many more Ambleside attractions: make an itinerary online using Inspirock's Ambleside online tour itinerary planner.
Visiting our World of Plants is a must! This outdoor arena has been newly designed to provide an accessible & easy to use cornucopia of plants & planting ideas. The whole area has been paviored & the plants are arranged on new plant beds interspersed with inspirational displays. The area is partially covered by a state of the art curved glass roof which has enabled us to increase our selection of tender plants early in the year & allows you to browse at leisure under cover.
At Hayes Garden World we have always been proud of the extensive range of garden furniture and accessories we have to offer but with our new shop floor development we have been able to increase our ranges and bring them together in one vast area, to enhance your shopping experience. Not only do we stock individual items of garden furniture but we also have a great choice of furniture sets, which make a more competitive buy.
Our new World of Interiors is now open and gives you a unique shopping experience where you can view the fantastic ranges of indoor furniture and home accessories we have to offer. There are eight inspirational room settings show casing bedroom, dining, living room and conservatory furniture in a number of different styles. Our contemporary furniture designs are complemented by everything you need to enhance the beauty of your home from paint and wall coverings to bedding, rugs and lighting.
Our World of Pets & Aquatics is well worth a visit & makes a great trip out for the whole family! We have a great selection of freshwater, tropical & marine fish, small mammals & some exotic species & it is packed with just about everything you need to care for your chosen pet!

Aug 2021: I've just had one of the nicest English breakfasts in the upstairs cafe. Table service by very nice and pleasant waitress and in no time I had a very well presented plate. Everything was piping hot and tasted delicious. The eggs, fresh on fresh muffins, Cumberland sausage, large and tasty, large whole tomato, really nice, huge mushroom, really succulent, black pud, excellent, bacon slab, very thick, again full of flavour. Two fluffy hash browns. A pot of beans in the middle to pour, leave or dip into. This was a well sourced pleasure. A very nice place to spend an hour or two wandering around, Sunday roast with trimmings very nice. All the staff were friendly and helpful. They have a children's fairies and dragons section but I couldn't comment as forgot the kids.

We were very pleased with our visit to Hayes today. The plants all look well looked after with lots of choice . Navigation around the shop can be a little confusing at first as it is quite extensive with many little nooks and crannies, but basically the indoor shop surrounds a central open air plant area. The toilets are very clean with access for all and the store features a very nice cafe . The cafe has good access by stairs or lift and has a complement of friendly staff with a good choice of food and drinks. Overall a good experience and lots to look at. Worth a visit.
