Isla de Vieques — 3 nights

Isla Nena

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Attractions like Playa Caracas and Horseback Riding Tours make great kid-friendly stops. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Playa La Chiva and Playa Pata Prieta. There's lots more to do: add some adventure to your tour with a kayaking and canoeing tour, kick back and relax at Playa Media Luna, stroll through Playa Navio, and take in the waterfront at Mosquito Pier.
