Mile-High City

Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
Get out of town with these interesting Denver side-trips: Pikes Peak - America's Mountain (in Cascade) and Garden of the Gods (in Colorado Springs). A genuine cowboy city, Cody is famous for its nightly rodeos and its proximity to the protected wilderness areas of the world's first national park, now designated as one of the country's World Heritage Sites.
On the 19th (Fri), examine the collection at Cody Firearms Museum, examine the collection at Buffalo Bill Center of the West, then admire the masterpieces at Whitney Western Art Museum, and finally get a new perspective on nature at Draper Natural History Museum.
