Yogyakarta — 3 nights

Yogyakarta is a city on the island of Java in Indonesia. On the 1st (Sat), steep yourself in history at The Palace of Yogyakarta, then stop by Chocolate Monggo House of Chocolate and Gelato, and then take in the spiritual surroundings of Kauman Grand Mosque. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 2nd (Sun): browse the different shops at Plaza Ambarrukmo and then pause for some serene contemplation at Ganjuran Church.

Jakarta to Yogyakarta is an approximately 3-hour flight. You can also take a train; or drive. In June, plan for daily highs up to 38°C, and evening lows to 28°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Mon) to allow enough time to fly to Malang.

Malang — 3 nights

With lush landscapes, plenty of historical landmarks, and a famously cool climate, Malang remains a favored tourist destination in East Java.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Off-Road Tours and Kayutangan Church. Explore Malang's surroundings by going to Batu (Coban Talun Dam, An Nur Great Mosque, &more). There's still lots to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Eng an Kiong Vihara, hit the best photo ops around with an inspiring photography tour, stroll through Banyu Anjlok Beach, and wander the streets of Tridi Village.

Traveling by flight from Yogyakarta to Malang takes 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a train. In July, plan for daily highs up to 36°C, and evening lows to 28°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 6th (Thu) early enough to travel back home.
