The capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, boasts an impressive medieval quarter--one of the continent's largest and a World Heritage Site with almost 2,000 historical buildings.
Get a sense of the local culture at Gediminas Castle Tower and Vilnil. Museum of illusions. KGB Museum (Genocido Auku Muziejus) and Tsekh Vilnius will appeal to museum buffs. Change things up with a short trip to Trakai Island Castle Museum in Trakai (about 36 minutes away). The adventure continues: wander the streets of Vilnius Old Town, take in the spiritual surroundings of Gate of Dawn, stop by Uzupis, and view the masterpieces at Vitrazo Manufaktura.

Kaunas — 3 nights

Situated between the Neris and Nemunas rivers, Kaunas is known for its old town, which, though smaller than the capital's, is in much better condition.
On the 6th (Sun), take a stroll through Old Town, take in the exciting artwork at Kauno Langas, contemplate the long history of Ninth Fort, then contemplate the long history of Sugihara House, and finally take a stroll through Laisves aleja (Liberty Boulevard). Here are some ideas for day two: indulge in some personalized pampering at some of the best spas, browse the different shops at Akropolis, then take in the exciting artwork at Museum of Illusions Kaunas, and finally look for gifts at Jaukus Namai.

Traveling by car from Vilnius to Kaunas takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. November in Kaunas sees daily highs of 5°C and lows of 1°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 8th (Tue) to allow enough time to travel back home.
