Mile-High City

Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
Kick off your visit on the 28th (Sun): contemplate the long history of Denver Union Station and then wander the streets of 16th Street Mall. On the next day, take in nature's colorful creations at Denver Botanic Gardens, then get to know the resident critters at Denver Zoo, and then look and learn at Denver Museum of Nature & Science.

Glenwood Springs occupies a scenic location at the junction of the Colorado River and the Roaring Fork River, halfway between Vail and Aspen along the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains.
On the 2nd (Fri), relax and float downstream with a rafting and tubing tour, take in the exciting artwork at Art on 8th, and then boost your wellbeing at a local thermal spa. On the next day, explore the activities along Hanging Lake and then trek along Hanging Lake Trail.

When traveling from Buena Vista in June, plan for a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Glenwood Springs: temperatures range from 66°F by day to 46°F at night.
