Queen of the American Lakes
A playground for America’s wealthy families, Lake George was nicknamed "Queen of the American Lakes." While these families often stayed in private country houses, a tourism industry built up around them in the early 20th century facilitated by two YMCAs.Get out of town with these interesting Lake George side-trips: Saratoga Springs (Saratoga Springs History Museum, Saratoga Automobile Museum, &more), Howes Cave (Howe Caverns & Iroquois Museum) and Stone Arabia Stone Church (in Palatine Bridge). Spend the 26th (Tue) surrounded by wildlife at The Wild Center. Spend the 7th (Thu) exploring nature at Marsh - Billings - Rockefeller National Historical Park.
