You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Roaring Fork and Chimneys Picnic Area. Step out of Gatlinburg with an excursion to Hike The Smokys in Sevierville--about 30 minutes away. Akron to Gatlinburg is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and car. When traveling from Akron in May, plan for somewhat warmer days and about the same nights in Gatlinburg: temperatures range from 79°F by day to 57°F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 7th (Sun) so you can catch the flight back home.
