The capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, boasts an impressive medieval quarter--one of the continent's largest and a World Heritage Site with almost 2,000 historical buildings.
Change things up with these side-trips from Vilnius: Trakai (Angelu Kalva & Trakai Island Castle Museum). There's lots more to do: get engrossed in the history at Gediminas Castle Tower, take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Anne's Church, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Gate of Dawn, and take in nature's colorful creations at Bernardine Gardens.

For more things to do, traveler tips, and more tourist information, use the Vilnius itinerary maker.

Oslo, Norway to Vilnius is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of train, ferry, and bus. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Oslo to Vilnius. Traveling from Oslo in July, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be somewhat warmer in Vilnius, with lows of 15°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Tue) to allow enough time to fly back home.

Characterized by the majestic Baltic coastline and adjacent white sands, Lithuania boasts lush green forests, hidden lakes, and coastal wetlands. A nation with a turbulent history, Lithuania houses the remains of a former nuclear site and the remnants of defenses used to strengthen the frontier of the Tsarist empire. At the same time, it pays homage to its national heroes, honored in sculpture parks and museums throughout the country. Today, Lithuania boasts a thriving musical, cultural, and visual arts scene, hosting a range of festivals and concerts year-round.
