The glaciers from which Glacier National Park takes its name mostly dissipated eons ago, but they left behind a scoured landscape of high and steep mountain peaks, sparkling lakes, lush alpine meadows, and thick forests.
Go for a jaunt from Glacier National Park to East Glacier Park to see Aster Falls about 54 minutes away. On the 16th (Wed), hike the day away at Highline Trail. There's much more to do: cruise along Going-to-the-Sun Road, contemplate the waterfront views at St. Mary Lake, hike along Iceberg Lake Trail, and admire the sheer force of Virginia Falls.

Sacramento to Glacier National Park is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight; or drive. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Sacramento to Glacier National Park. In August, Glacier National Park is little chillier than Sacramento - with highs of 83°F and lows of 48°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 25th (Fri) early enough to travel to Olympic National Park.
