Melk, a small town of about 5,000, hugs the south side of the Danube.
Start off your visit on the 25th (Tue): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Melk Abbey, then pause for some serene contemplation at Basilika Maria Taferl, and then examine the collection at Steyrtalbahn.
