Surrounded by mountain ranges and boasting a well-preserved city center, Salzburg melds culture and history.
Start off your visit on the 6th (Thu): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St. Peter's Abbey (Stift St. Peter), then examine the collection at Haus der Natur, and then see the interesting displays at Red Bull Hangar-7. Keep things going the next day: stroll the grounds of Petersfriedhof, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Franziskanerkirche, shop like a local with Getreidegasse, then discover the riches below the earth's surface at Salzwelten Salzburg, and finally don't miss a visit to Stiegl Brauwelt.

Historically known for the production of salt, Halstatt's fine architecture reflects the small village's salt mining legacy.
You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Badestrand Hallstatt and Obertraun Bathing Area/Lakeside Recreation Area. Step off the beaten path and head to Offentlicher Badeplatz Brauwiese and Central Square Marktplatz. Change things up with a short trip to Ursprungalm in Pichl (about 54 minutes away). There's still lots to do: get great views at 5 Fingers, get a new perspective on things with Lake Hallstatt Explorer, enjoy breathtaking views from Hallstatt Skywalk "Welterbeblick", and go for a walk through Old Town.
