Grado — 1 night

Stretching over an island and peninsula in the Adriatic between Trieste and Venice, sunny Grado may seem like a typical seaside resort town.On the 4th (Tue), see the interesting displays at Baptistry of Aquileia and Südhalle, don't miss a visit to Porta Udine - World Heritage Site, stroll the grounds of Cemetery To The Unknown Soldier, admire the striking features of Il Battistero di Grado, then pause for some photo ops at St. Euphemia's Basilica, and finally take in the architecture and atmosphere at Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie. On the 5th (Wed), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: contemplate the waterfront views at La laguna di Grado e i suoi Casoni, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Sanctuary of Barbana Church, delve into the distant past at Archaeological Area of Aquileia - Roman Forum, sample the fine beverages at Distilleria Aquileia, then explore the ancient world of Domus e Palazzo Episcopale, and finally take in panoramic vistas at Bell Tower of Aquileia.
For other places to visit, more things to do, photos, and other tourist information, refer to the Grado trip maker site.
Milan to Grado is an approximately 4.5-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of train and bus; or fly. In July, plan for daily highs up to 36°C, and evening lows to 20°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 5th (Wed) early enough to go by car back home.
