Dilijan — 3 nights

An alpine haven resting in a plush evergreen national park, Dilijan has made a name for itself as the "Armenian Switzerland." A much-loved spa town rich in culture and history, uncover the majestic 10th century monasteries, undisturbed scenic vistas, and hiking trails through undulating forest.
Change things up with these side-trips from Dilijan: Hayravank Monastery (in Hayravank), Tsakhkadzor (Kecharis Monastery & Ski Resort Tsakhkadzor) and Lastiver Cave (in Ijevan). Gyumri, the second largest city in Armenia, survived a turbulent history and a devastating earthquake in 1988.
Gyumri is known for sightseeing, museums, and historic sites. Your trip includes some of its best attractions: pause for some photo ops at Mother Armenia, get engrossed in the history at Isahakyan House Museum, take in the spiritual surroundings of Marmashen Monastery, and see the interesting displays at Museum of National Architecture and Urban Life.

You can drive from Dilijan to Gyumri in 2 hours. Another option is to do a combination of taxi and train. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1 hour traveling from Dilijan to Gyumri. Plan for slightly colder temperatures traveling from Dilijan in December, with highs in Gyumri at -1°C and lows at -13°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Mon) so you can take a shuttle to Yerevan.
