Old and new sit side by side in Yerevan, showing the country's capital to be a city on the move, but also proud of its history and traditions.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Garni Gorge and Climbing Tours. Visiting Basaltic Organ and Master Levon's Divine Underground will get you outdoors. Take a break from Yerevan with a short trip to The Monastery of Geghard in Geghard, about 52 minutes away. Spend the 4th (Sat) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. The adventure continues: appreciate the history behind Alexander Tamanyan Statue, learn about winemaking at Armenia Wine, take in the exciting artwork at Eduard Isabekyan Gallery Yerevan, and examine the collection at Armenian Genocide Museum.

Stockholm, Sweden to Yerevan is an approximately 9-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of ferry, train, and bus. The time zone changes from Central European Standard Time to Armenia Standard Time, which is usually a 3 hour difference. Traveling from Stockholm in June, expect nights in Yerevan to be a bit warmer, around 18°C, while days are much warmer, around 36°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Tue) to allow time to take a shuttle to Dilijan.

Armenian Switzerland

An alpine haven resting in a plush evergreen national park, Dilijan has made a name for itself as the "Armenian Switzerland." A much-loved spa town rich in culture and history, uncover the majestic 10th century monasteries, undisturbed scenic vistas, and hiking trails through undulating forest.
Escape the urban bustle at Dilijan National Park and Yenokavan Canyon. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Anapat Cave and Lake Parz. There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Haghartsin Monastery.

Getting from Yerevan to Dilijan by shuttle takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: drive; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 36°C in June, and nighttime lows around 18°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 11th (Sat) so you can drive to Stepanavan.

Stepanavan, is a town in the Lori Province of Armenia. Kick off your visit on the 12th (Sun): Head underground at Communist Caves. Keep things going the next day: get curious at Lori-Pambak Geological Museum of Vanadzor and then walk around Stepanavan Sochut Dendropark.

Armavir — 3 nights

Armavir, is a town at the west of Armenia and the capital of the Armavir Province. Discover out-of-the-way places like Echmiadzin Monastery and Ziarat Yazidi Temple. Change things up with a short trip to The Churches of Echmiatsin and the Archaeological Site of Zvartnots in Vagharshapat (about 30 minutes away). There's still lots to do: learn about winemaking at Golden Grape Armas Estate.

You can drive from Stepanavan to Armavir in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or do a combination of taxi and bus. You'll lose 1 hour traveling from Stepanavan to Armavir due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Stepanavan in June, things will get somewhat warmer in Armavir: highs are around 34°C and lows about 22°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Thu) so you can travel back home.
